A car crashed on my property and when I went out to take pictures the cop starts yelling at me to stop or he’ll have me arrested. I asked why and he said it is illegal to photograph a police officer, is that true? BTW – I took his picture a number of times and he did nothing.

Dat doesn' t correct recht. Geluiden zoals slechte cop. Misschien there' S.A.- wet in uw staat die de fotografie van cops terwijl het onderzoeken van een misdaad, maar I can' belemmert; t ziet hoe die wet in het algemeen een algemeen verbod is.
if you were taking a picture of the car why would he think you were taking a picture of him?
I’m not aware of any law of the kind. It sounds like he was trying to intimidate you just to be a bully. Sadly some officers are like that. I can’t help wondering if he’s been photographed before doing something illegal and now he’s paranoid about it. If he’d just obey the laws he’s upholding, he’d have nothing to worry about.
maybe you were photographing him from his bad side.

Nothing illegal about snapping some pictures in public. He obviously was on a power trip. Read at the bottom of the article in this link.
No it’s not illegal. You can photograph your property after an accident, and you can photograph anyone who does not have a right to expect privacy. In other words you can’t photograph the officer while he is in his shower thru his bedroom window in his backyard, but if he is in public you can take all the pictures you want as long as you are not interfering with his duties. If your getting in his way, he could arrest you but you can take pictures from your front yard all day long. Persons in public have no right to privacy – there is no law against violating privacy when your not in private.
