Thinking of buying a property in Florida (UK resident) any advice? I hear there has been a crash in the market

I saw an article in a newspaper that property in the states has fallen by 40%, and with the dollar weak and the pound strong I was thinking it might be a good investment. Any advice or web site addressess to browse would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that the real estate market is very good for buyers, not sellers. Where I live in SC, that is all they talk about for real estate …lots of houses, no buyers. Market is super slow (many people have had houses for sale for long periods of time which means that they would likely take less money for house). I am not a real estate agent though.
Thats true, but now is the time to buy if your going to , because it will recover. My home in Key West has’nt lost any value but has’nt gained for the past two years. After this storm season the price will start to climb.. Plus it all depends where in Fl.
Yes, generally there has been a dip in US property prices.
That together with the current strength of the £ against the US$ makes it a good time for you to buy.
Current wisdom is that the £ has reached its peak against the US$, although there is little genuine optimism of a resurgence in the US residential property market. So a quick profit is unlikely.

Florida is a big place and what you get for your dollar varies greatly.
One slice of advice, check out current and proposed zoning rules.
People have bought out there only to find that local zoning laws prohibit short term rentals or any sort of holiday lets, worse having bought the property, relying on income and started rent out for holidays the zoning rules change, and your in trouble. Remember these zoning rules are vigorously enforced and there is no shortage of neighbours to blow the whistle.
We in the UK have estate agents who have been known to be economical with the truth, they are close cousins to US Realtors
If you are buying a place for you to go and stay on a regular basis and do not rely on rentals, then it may be a good option.
If you are buying thinking it will rent out easily and cover all costs of running i.e. even when the home is empty you still need aircon running and pool pump, irrigation. Someone to clean the pool and cut the grass etc and possibly pay a mortgage.
Rentals do not happen easily. We bought our place because we love it and the area, we did not buy it simply as a rental property. I do love it when we have guests who tell us how nice it is and well looked after, but that is because we visit regularly for long periods of time.
Be sure that you are buying for the right reasons. And dont forget, although you will get more for your money, the running costs are not cheap.

Acabo de tener 3 qoutes muevo hacia atrás para un flydrive para 2 el próximo julio/agosto de las personas. No uno era menos que £1750 y entonces por supuesto allí es los hoteles, los boletos, pasando el etc. He decidido pasar ese dinero que entraba a otra parte por primera vez en un rato largo porque siento i' m que es rasgado apagado. Cerciórese de le para conseguir la derecha del mercado antes de que usted salte adentro.
Ik leef in Zuid-Florida, en er zijn absoluut een ver*tragen in de onroerende goederenmarkt geweest. Heel wat nieuwe bouw is vertraagd of tegengehouden. De prijzen zijn verminderd. In de gebieden van de Kust van het Palm Beach en van de Schat van het Westen, hebben de verhinderingen sinds vorig jaar verdubbeld. Het zou een goede tijd kunnen zijn te kopen, maar onderzoekt echte successierechten en huiseigenaarsverzekering alvorens u. Beide punten zijn beduidend hoger dan u zou kunnen verwachten. Het oosten en de West- kustgemeenschappen zijn nog duur, nochtans zijn de binnenlandse gebieden minder duur (maar hotter gewoonlijk). als u investeringsbezit zoekt, zou u een flatgebouw met koopflats kunnen willen overwegen, waar de onderhoudsprijzen in een jaarlijkse of maandelijkse prijs inbegrepen zijn. Herinneren die orkaanbescherming, d.w.z. blinden, en/of de behoefte van de vloedverzekering om eveneens worden nagedacht. De goede jacht.
