the home I rent is going in foreclosure. The sale date is in Aug, do I still pay rent?

The person I am renting from is letting 15 units go into foreclosure. He did not give the courtesy to let us know they are going in to foreclosure. He is still asking for rent even though the property is going up for auction in aug. I need to find a place to stay, and I doubt that he will give us our deposit back. Should I continue to pay rent? It seems as if they are just trying to take our money and does not care if we are homeless or not. Some homes are being auctioned off on the 28th of July, and they are still demanding payment. Why are the tenants not protected against people like this, however the landlord has the right to do this to tenants?? The landlord denied everything, but we are being served with foreclosure papers and the trustee to sale. Does anyone have answers?

If you break a lease, can the landlord sue for future rent even though they are selling the property?

Can a landlord sue for future rent, even though the time they are sueing for is after the sale of a property. For example, can you be sued for 24 months future rent for breaking lease, when the property is knowingly being sold 3 months after you break the lease?

I rent a house that is in foreclosure and goes to trustee sale next Tuesday. If the house does not sell at the trustee sale, who owns the house. My landlord wants rent for Feb. and I don’t know if he still owns the house if it does not sell at the trustee sale. Thanks for the help

Thank you to everyone who answered my question. But maybe I should have been more specific. It’s going on a foreclosure sale in 7 days, not a listing sale. Landlord has not been paying on his mortgage since the day we moved in, on top of it, he’s threatening me that he can kick me out the next day if I do not pay him.

If a landlord forces delivers a written notice to the tenant to vacate the premises- 5-7 day time frame to vacate, because the tenant is being evicted for non payment of rent. Can the landlord garnish the tenants wages or non-exemt property to sale auction?

damaged property after car crash?

A car crashed into my bf’s house on saturday. The pillar and railings on the boundary of the property are destroyed.

The pillar is lying in a heap, as is most of a wall that stops people from falling into the basement. The railings are just waiting to stab someone on the basement stairs.

The debris is blocking the only exit for two flats, so the fire escape is partly blocked.

How long does the landlord have to clean it up and rebuild?
