rent property sale

This rental property (a condominium unit) has been rented out for 5 years, but before that, it had been lived as a principal residence by my parents (now deceased) for about 10 years.

I realise that GST does not apply to the residential rent, or sale of used residental property, but GST may apply to portion to used residential property converted to business use (e.g., dental office).

My question is whether rental constitutes a business, that attacts GST? And, if GST applies, will there be exemption for years being owned as a principal residence? Thanks.

Repossession

The person I am renting from is letting 15 units go into foreclosure. He did not give the courtesy to let us know they are going in to foreclosure. He is still asking for rent even though the property is going up for auction in aug. I need to find a place to stay, and I doubt that he will give us our deposit back. Should I continue to pay rent? It seems as if they are just trying to take our money and does not care if we are homeless or not. Some homes are being auctioned off on the 28th of July, and they are still demanding payment. Why are the tenants not protected against people like this, however the landlord has the right to do this to tenants?? The landlord denied everything, but we are being served with foreclosure papers and the trustee to sale. Does anyone have answers?

I have inherited the whole of my father’s estate in the UK. There is no mortgage on his property. I too have no mortgage on my property. I am going to move into my father’s house, and either rent or sell my own. Will there be income tax to pay on the sale/rent of my property?

Rent Back

A person enters into a contract to purchase a property but title remains in the name of the seller for a year. Who gets to collect the rental from the property? Presupposing that the money for the sale is fully paid. What specific law applies to this situation?

Should I rent my property?

rent property sale

I just found out that I have to move to Alabama for another job in July. I just bought a house last November. I have absolutely no equity on my house. If I sale I will be outta pocket a lot of money. If I rent the house (compared to the classified adds close to my neighborhood) I would be out of pocket about 250.00 after rent is paid to the property manager. Will the tax writeoff help out any? Should I just sell the house and take the loss? Or would it be smarter to hold on the the property and take the loss every month for renting

A condo listed on Craigslist for rent is actually shown on MLS listing sites for sale. The agent renting the house did not saying anything. Is this a fraud? Will there be any risk renting a REO property? However the agent has a website and can have access to the condo. Any help will be appreciated.

Can a landlord sue for future rent, even though the time they are sueing for is after the sale of a property. For example, can you be sued for 24 months future rent for breaking lease, when the property is knowingly being sold 3 months after you break the lease?

I am not sure whether it’s cheaper to build a restaurant that’ll suit my needs, or to rent/lease a bldg. instead. I’ve seen some properties for sale but it’ll be more work to customize it for my needs. Any suggestions?
